With over 3,000 school-aged children in foster care here in Clark County, we need your help to ensure foster kids can succeed in school whether learning at home or in the classroom. Schools are developing plans on how students will learn this fall, but we know digital learning and less sharing supplies will mean students need back-to-school essentials more than ever.
Did you know? The average youth in foster care experiences 3 home changes and loses up to 6 months of academic progress with each move. They are already facing an uphill academic battle; the last thing they should be worried about is making sure they have the correct school supplies.
Helping ensure foster youth have what they need to learn allows them the best chance of catching up, building self-esteem and getting excited for the new year. There are many ways you can help; whether it is shopping online for foster youth’s school needs, making a donation to help purchase these items.
