Who We Are

The Obodo Collective is a Black women-led nonprofit dedicated to eliminating multigenerational poverty in marginalized communities. With a two-generational approach, we uplift entire families to ensure lasting progress. Our focus areas include housing justice, food security, and education. We advocate for safe, affordable housing and operate a community urban farm in the Historic Westside to increase food access.

Our holistic approach addresses systemic barriers and empowers individuals to achieve their full potential. Through our programs, we promote equity, empowerment, and resilience. We believe in the strength and potential of every individual and family we serve. By fostering educational opportunities and providing resources, we break the cycle of poverty. Together with our community, we cultivate change, resilience, and hope for a brighter future.

What We Do

At The Obodo Collective, we offer a range of empowering programs designed to uplift and support our community members. From our weekly "Grow Your Own" classes, where individuals learn the skills needed to cultivate their own food, to workshops on navigating the eviction process, we provide essential resources and knowledge to empower individuals and families. All of our classes are offered free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all. Additionally, we collaborate closely with other community partners to amplify our impact and achieve common goals, fostering a unified approach to tackling systemic challenges and driving positive change in our neighborhoods. Through our collective efforts, we strive to build a stronger, more resilient community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
