Our vision is that Nevadans are confident to make positive, informed decisions about their money that leads to increased assets and community well-being. We achieve our mission and vision by partnering with public, private, and other nonprofit organizations to provide tools and resources to help them strengthen the financial capability of their employees and the clients they serve by: *Improving access to high quality financial information, education, and counseling; *Increasing access to income-boosting supports and tax credits; *Connecting residents to safe, affordable, financial products and services; *Creating opportunities to build savings and assets; *Integrating effective cross-sector programs and strategies; and *Advocating for policies to increase the financial security of Nevadans.

What We Do

We traditionally providing topical training to individuals, government and nonprofit agencies, and also provide training that allows individuals to become a Financial Coach.  Trainings include financial development, financial capacity building and financial advancement tools and resources.  We are the Bridges Out of Poverty training agency and provided courses on Day 1, Day 2, and Healthcare and a 16-20 week course of Getting Ahead for those working their way out of poverty.  We have important partnerships with agencies who need and use these trainings, other nonprofit agencies related to Policy and Advocacy such as the Guinn Center and Prosperity Now, and we have a community-partner relationships with lenders, regulators, elected officials, and other stakeholders.

In response to the COVID19 crisis, we have designed and deployed a program to assist all Nevadans with the financial impacts they are experiencing from the crisis.  We have a Volunteer Financial Navigator component that connects the general public with an OANV Volunteer, either via email or phone, and they will be assisted in navigating their current situation and get connected to helpful tools and resources, they will be assisted with developing a 'next steps' plan whether it is contacting their creditors while they wait to get through the lines at unemployment, they will be given a worksheet of what will be needed when contacting each creditor, what questions to ask, what conversations to document, and to start making payment arrangements with all creditors on first contact.  If they are ready when they contact us, we will help them establish a budget to be used during the crisis and next steps when their circumstances change.  We also have a forum for front-line agencies and those with solutions (lenders, elected officials, etc.) to connect, and we host a weekly meeting to exchange ever-changing information related to the crisis.
