Volunteers provide socialization and human contact that is necessary for homebound elders, helping them maintain their independence. Volunteer drivers also serve as companions and share conversations with clients to help reduce their isolation and provide the reassurance that there is someone who cares for them, they are not alone, and they can remain self-sufficient.

Volunteers provide social support to homebound seniors via telephone by calling up to twice a week. Volunteers will engage in reciprocal conversations, discussing activities, hobbies, and life stories. Volunteers offer informal social support and receive ongoing assistance.

We need your help to keep great books accessible to communities 24/7. Visit Little Free Libraries in your community to distribute books! 

We can suggest where to look for free or inexpensive books, or if you already have some, you can share those too. You can find book-sharing boxes near you using our world map or free mobile app.

Communities are hungry for books! Help Little Free Library fulfill its mission of book access for everyone by coordinating a local book drive. You can lead a book drive and distributed the collected books to local Little Free Libraries. Little Free Library staff can answer your questions along the way. 

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. You can coordinate your book drive during the times that work best for you and your community.

The Museum transforms to host some spooky fun! We are looking for individuals (or teams) ready to help run activity tables, answer guest questions and help with crowd control.  Team sign ups encouraged as we would love to put teams, organizations and businesses at specific tables.  What better way to show off your team spirit to our guests while helping them learn a little about natural history and S.T.E.A.M. 

There may be some light setup duties, decorating, cleaning, and sanitizing before the event. There may be some heavy lifting, moving items from room to room, bending over to pick up light to heavy objects, and light housekeeping (sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting).

Shifts can be adjusted to accommodate team sign-ups. A 30-minute break is available for 3+ hour shifts. Feel free to bring any drinks or snacks for your shift. We have a break room, refrigerator, and soda vending machine on the property. 

Emails will be sent out as the event gets closer.  

Junior Volunteers (13-15 years of age) are welcome with an adult or guardian present.  Drop offs are not allowed. If you need hours for a school program, this can fulfill those.

Join Our Anti-Human Trafficking Crisis Response Team

Our public-facing human trafficking hotline operates 24/7, thanks to the invaluable support of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers play a critical role by covering shifts outside of Signs of HOPE’s traditional business hours (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM), on weekends, and during holidays.

Volunteer Opportunity: Anti-Human Trafficking Crisis Response Advocate

As a Crisis Response Advocate, you will have the opportunity to:

*Provide Hotline Support

Cover shifts on our 24/7 hotline, responding to individuals seeking emotional support, resources, or information. You will also field calls from law enforcement, trained service providers, and community partners to assist with resource coordination.

*Respond in the Field

Gain hands-on experience by responding alongside law enforcement to locations where individuals—both minors and adults—have been identified as experiencing trafficking.

*Deliver Immediate Crisis Services

Offer compassionate, real-time support, including safety planning and connection to long-term services through our case management team.

Program Participant Advocate Team Members are responsible for assisting with Program Participant care, including intake.

Team members are required to attend bi-weekly supervision/team meetings and volunteer a minimum of five hours per week. In office requirements vary.

A typical leadership speaker block is the following. You do not have to have any visuals prepped; come and share your story! This can be adapted based on the purpose of our guest speaker.

Letters Against Isolation is a volunteer-run nonprofit that coordinates volunteers to mail friendly, handwritten letters to seniors facing social isolation. We're hoping to extend our outreach in southern Nevada and create more opportunities for UWSN volunteers.

The FEAT Parents Night Out Program provides a break for parents of children with autism and their siblings. Being a parent can be challenging at times. When your child has special needs it becomes so important to find support and help. Every parent needs time to relax, revive, rejuvenate and be their best self. We provide a 4 hour respite break for parents to do just that!

We need approximately 60 volunteers over the age of 18 to maximize the amount of kids we can accept.

Book Preps make children feel special by cleaning and repairing gently used books that Spread the Word Nevada distributes every month to underserved schools. Thousands of children don't have books of their own and we need volunteers to ensure books get into their hands.

Perfect for groups and individuals, book preps are offered at various days and times each week. All supplies and instructions will be given onsite.

Get involved with Tech Impact by volunteering within one of the following roles!

PROFESSIONAL/SOFT SKILLS TRAININGS: Every Friday, corporate volunteers present professional skills training using a curriculum developed by Accenture. Topics include Resume Writing, Interviewing, Leadership, Time Management, Professionalism, and Financial Management. Each session is two 2.5-hour sections (5 hours total), and 2-4 volunteers lead each Friday session. 

MENTORING: Each student is assigned a mentor, typically an IT professional. Our mentors commit about one hour per week to the program. 

LUNCH & LEARN VISITS: We encourage local technology executives, recruiters, and other partners to spend the lunch hour with our students to talk about their career path and engage with the students. 

HOSTING ITWORKS INTERNS: Corporations and nonprofits provide 5-week (minimum) IT internships (24 hours per week). The ideal internship site has a technology staff member that the ITWorks student can shadow, provides enough work to occupy the student's time, and includes the student in as many different projects as possible to broaden the student’s view of the IT workplace.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable volunteer driver in Pahrump, Nevada to assist seniors and adults with disabilities by transporting them to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and essential errands. Transportation will be provided using an RSVP fleet vehicle. The driver must be comfortable making trips to the Las Vegas area as needed.

Flexible hours Monday through Friday; scheduling will be based on volunteer availability and client needs.

Minimum Age: 25 (must have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check and drug screening)

Casa de Luz offers tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students in our neighborhoods. Most of our students are chronically absent and have missed instruction in school. Casa’s tutoring program focuses on helping students with reading, homework, and education advocacy.

Our three youth drop-in centers are open five days a week. The teens have access to hygiene products and food that is available discreetly. They do not need permission to access these products, and they are available anytime, no questions asked. They have a daily Bible study and go on many outings, including a summer camp and mission trips.

We have a paid internship for teens in the neighborhood that give them job skills and support them in transitioning to a job in the community. We also provide college scholarships to our young adults. These programs invest in their futures and build hope.

LSSN’s DigiMart Food Pantry provides hundreds of families with food who are facing food insecurities. Volunteers are currently needed Monday – Thursday to assist with food distribution, packing bags of easy-to-eat/prepare foods for homeless clients, stocking shelves, and assisting with other pantry duties. Books & Buddies is a reading program developed to improve literacy skills by partnering students with volunteer mentors acting as reading companions. No experience is necessary.

Books & Buddies is a minimum one-hour weekly commitment throughout the school year. We understand that absences for various reasons will occur, but as much consistency as possible is the goal. Books & Buddies Mentor Centers operate Monday - Thursday during school hours and will be located in 5 Title 1 schools throughout the valley during the 2025/2026 school year. 

A one-and-a-half-hour orientation and a background check (STWN covers the cost) is required to participate in the program.

Using your own vehicle and a scheduled route, this shift allows you to deliver a week’s worth of fresh and nutritious groceries directly to clients’ doorsteps who are unable to leave their residence. Each route takes 1.5-3 hours, depending on the location, and consists of 8-12 deliveries. 

Volunteers typically arrive around 8:30am, but we are flexible with your schedule. ***Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to arrive later than 9:30am, so that we know the route will be covered. All groceries must be picked up from our warehouse no later than 11am.

You MUST have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a vehicle. ***We will make a copy of your driver's license and proof of insurance to have on record for insurance purposes.

Place books into the hands of children to positively impact their lives with the magic of reading! Spread the Word Nevada relies on the generous support of individuals, local businesses, and organizations to provide books to students in Nevada who can’t afford their own. These books inspire children to read and help them succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.  

New and gently used books are welcome. Children’s books from PreK to 5th grade are preferred, however, we will accept most books. The only books we do not accept are encyclopedias, coloring books/workbooks, and books in other languages besides English or Spanish.

Souvenir Sales - Record Sales of souvenirs. The Square Reader will be set up on cellular phones so that guests can tap or scan the QR code to purchase the souvenir necklace or shark pin before the event. You will have a box of necklaces and pins under your station. There will be a manning that the Souvenirs will be stationed.  

Auction Spotter/Pledge Hawk – The Ballroom will be divided into sections and each person will have a number of tables they are responsible for. During the “Matching” gift opportunity, guests might feel inclined to make a pledge and we need to record the information. You are asked to go up to the guest and document their Table#, name, phone number and pledge amount. Let them know that our Development Team will follow up.

Olive Crest Admin Volunteers are the behind-the-scenes force that enables the staff to support kids and families well. Reporting directly to the Admin Leader, Admin Volunteers assist with office tasks as needed. These tasks may be in support of any/all Olive Crest programs and staff. Admin Volunteers are an integral part of working to end child abuse and neglect.

Volunteers write handwritten, one-of-a-kind letters for senior citizens in aged care homes and senior programs. Instead of generic well wishes or affirmations, share personal stories, memories, or everyday experiences in a conversational tone. Write as though you’re speaking to a friend—seniors cherish letters that feel authentic and heartfelt because they create a genuine sense of connection. Keep your messages positive and avoid sensitive topics like religion, holidays, politics, health and mobility.

When your letters are ready to mail, choose a destination facility from one of our partners in Southern Nevada, San Bernardino County, Arizona or across the country. Our list of requests refreshes every two weeks, year-round, so there’s always a place that needs your letters.

Keep in mind that most seniors won’t be able to reply, so each letter is truly a one-time act of kindness.

1. What should I write about?
Think of your letter as a friendly conversation. Share personal stories, hobbies, or a favorite memory. Avoid sensitive topics like religion, politics, holidays, health and mobility. Asking a question demonstrates an interest in the reader, gives them something to think about and inspires conversation. We've created this general guide and these lists of notable dates for each month.

2. Where do I mail my letters?
After registering, check your welcome email for portal access instructions. If you can’t find it, check your junk or promotions folder, or email me for assistance.

3. Can I mail letters to other countries?
Yes! With facilities in four countries, you’re welcome to choose a destination locally or internationally. Just ensure you use the correct postage for international mail.

4. What if there are no facilities in the location where I want to write?
Our user portal refreshes every two weeks, so check back at the start of the next cycle. If there are no facilities near you, you can also choose a location in another region or country if mailing farther away is an option.

5. Do you accept letters in other languages?
Yes! Use the language filter in our user portal to find destinations that accept letters in any of 30 different languages.

6. Can groups or organizations volunteer? How about teachers and educators? 
Absolutely! Whether you’re part of a student club, workplace team, community group or classroom, our resources are designed to support group participation. Start here. 

7. Can I earn community service hours for my letters?
Yes, students can earn 15 minutes of service time per approved letter. Register using the student form and share photos of your letters with your assigned Community Service Liaison.

8. Is there any commitment required to volunteer?
No, there’s no commitment until you pledge letters in the user portal. You’re free to write as many or as few letters as you’d like, whenever it suits your schedule.

9. What happens if I pledge letters but can’t complete them?
Once you pledge letters in the portal, those letters are reserved specifically for you. It’s important to complete and send them so the seniors receive the connections they’re waiting for. If you’re unsure about your availability, it’s best to wait until you’re ready to write before making a pledge.

10. How do the facilities handle letters?
Each location handles letters differently. Staff often review them to ensure the content is appropriate, and they may try to match letters with individual readers. Some places post letters on bulletin boards, read them as a group activity, distribute them to individuals at mealtimes or place them in baskets for seniors to pick and share. Letters sent to Meals on Wheels programs are typically shared by a volunteer who doesn’t know the recipient. Specific details or requests from facilities may be noted in the user portal.

11. Will I receive a reply to my letter?
Most seniors aren’t able to reply, but your letter will still mean the world to them. Treat it as a one-time act of kindness that brings joy and connection.

12. Can my aged care home, senior center or meals on wheels program receive letters?

Please ask a director or manager to register as a care home.

The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is looking for volunteers that could help with out school tours during this 2024-2025 school year.

If you are a soon to be teacher or would love experience in the area of education, we have that opportunity for you. Are you an enthusiastic, personable, and friendly individual?

Tours run from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. You are not required to commit to every day; however, if you wish to train as a tour guide, we do ask that you be available at least four times a month.

No prior knowledge of our museum is necessary, as we will provide training on everything you need to know. If you already have some background in animals, nature, natural history, or cultural history, that would be an added benefit.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am until 12 pm.

Extra Information:  Any prior experience with conducting tours or working with children is a plus.

The LVMPD Foundation is proud to partner with the LVMPD's Victim Services Detail to collect cell phones and small electronic devices (iPads) to help victims in need.

You can be the #1 thing that makes a difference in the life of a victim experiencing domestic abuse by supporting programs that offer support, encouragement, stability, and love. 

So that half-decade-old phone tucked away in storage will still call for an ambulance or police assistance, provided the battery is chargeable. LVMPD Victim Services Unit works with an organization that accepts used cell phones and then re-purposes them as emergency-only devices meant to dial 911 dispatchers. The organization checks each donated telephone to ensure the battery still works and packages them with a charging cable for distribution to high-risk community members. These include domestic abuse survivors and the elderly.

Signs of HOPE needs after-hours Hotline Advocates for their sexual assault hotline. Signs of HOPE provides intensive and comprehensive services to anyone who is currently or has previously been a victim of sexual violence.

Volunteer Time Frames (4-hour shifts):

Volunteers must be able to pass a background check and drug test, paid for by Signs of HOPE. In-person training opportunities are held at Signs of HOPE's office or can be completed at your own pace from home. Training and screening are all paid for by Signs of HOPE.

We are looking for three to four individuals to help in our boutique. Responsibilities include: inspecting all business clothing donations, size & display clothing, organize clothing already in the boutique after a client has been 'shopping', etc.  The volunteer hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

The Road To Recovery Volunteer Driver provides people with transportation to and from their cancer-related medical appointments. Drivers donate their time to help people with cancer get the lifesaving treatments they need.

As a Road to Recovery driver, you can serve your community and help local people, provide support and encouragement, have rewarding one to one interactions with cancer patients, build relationships and save lives. Road to Recovery offers flexible scheduling, you drive as much or as little as you want when you want.

• Between the ages of 18 and 84.
• Valid driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance.
• Access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
• Pass background check and motor vehicle records checks.
• Comfortable using technology with reliable internet access.
• Complete required training and follow through on ride commitments.
• Appreciation and respect for diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and cultures of patients, caregivers, volunteers, and staff.

• Utilize mobile-friendly ride coordination tool to manage transportation requests.
• Follow safe driving procedures and disease transmission guidelines, including COVID-19 safety procedures.
• Abide by American Cancer Society privacy, confidentiality, and program guidelines.
• Participate in program evaluations and promotional opportunities, including new driver recruitment efforts, as applicable.

First, you’ll need to submit some basic information to the American Cancer Society. From there a volunteer care specialist will contact you to discuss the program, your expectations, and what you hope to gain from the experience so we can ensure a good fit. Then you’ll take some required training, which is self-paced and takes around 90 minutes. From there you’ll complete a background check and once approved, provide your schedule availability so you can begin being matched to patients needing transportation.

Help the American Cancer Society raise money for the fight against cancer by joining the committee for the first Southern Nevada Golf Classic in October of 2023. This event would not be possible without dedicated volunteers giving their time and talent.
