Volunteer: After-Hours Hotline Advocates

Signs of HOPE needs after-hours Hotline Advocates for their sexual assault hotline. Signs of HOPE provides intensive and comprehensive services to anyone who is currently or has previously been a victim of sexual violence.

Volunteer Time Frames (4-hour shifts):

Monday - Friday, 5 pm - 5 amSaturday and Sunday, all day

Volunteers must be able to pass a background check and drug test, paid for by Signs of HOPE. In-person training opportunities are held at Signs of HOPE's office or can be completed at your own pace from home. Training and screening are all paid for by Signs of HOPE.

Our dedicated volunteers are a vital part of Signs of HOPE’s work. We could not provide support, healing, and hope to survivors in Clark County without individuals like you. We have numerous volunteer opportunities and projects to choose from!

All opportunities are only open to residents of Nevada and will require completion of our 50-hour advocacy training, background check, and drug test. If you’d like to join our incredible team of volunteers, please fill out an application at Become a Volunteer - Signs of HOPE (sohlv.org). Our volunteers should expect to:

Provide non-judgmental, professional, and timely services while respecting the dignity and safety of clients, volunteers, and staff of Signs of H.O.P.E. Provide over-the-phone advocacy to callers on the hotline. Provide in-person advocacy and crisis intervention to individuals at University Medical Center (UMC). Inform clients of medical and criminal justice procedures, including resources i.e. victim’s compensation, shelters, therapy referrals etc. Arrange transportation for clients (i.e. providing a bus pass or calling a rideshare from UMC). Accurately fill out client related intake forms from hospital, hotline, and PREA calls then delivers intake forms to Signs of H.O.P.E within 48 hours – (NO FAX, NO MAIL, NO E-MAIL). Get all necessary authorization forms and confidentiality forms signed by clients at the hospital and delivers them to Signs of H.O.P.E within 48 hours – (NO FAX, NO MAIL, NO E-MAIL). Make and file all reports necessary to Child Protective Services (CPS) and/or Law Enforcement as required by Mandated Reporting Laws and Procedures and informs appropriate RCC staff before a report is made. Attend regular meetings and continuing education trainings at least twice a year. Maintain regular contact with Signs of H.O.P.E regarding schedule changes, availability, role satisfaction etc. Respond to ALL calls requesting hospital/clinic accompaniment. If two or more calls from the answering service do not receive a response, and the volunteer does not immediately contact the staff on-call within 5 minutes of the missed call, the volunteer will be subject to termination.
